Rue Saint Roch is an urban freeway. Evidence counts
Dear neighbors,
Our petition to reduce speed is well justified, here is the proof by the numbers.
From February 1 to 20 speed analyzer was installed in the Rue St. Roch and the results are staggering ...!
24.000 vehicles passed on the street, or 1200 per day (And it was the holiday of Carnival!)
84% WERE NOT IN THE SPEED LIMIT .
10% STOCK OVER 100KM / H . And yes you read correctly!
Most vehicles "long" (trucks and buses) were driving between 60 and 70km / h.
All this in a street that does not even 5m wide.
Things will they finally move now that everyone is well aware of the risks to vehicles and families?
Mr. Mayor we reported that the municipality has ordered a radar to be installed in the street. We thank him for this initiative but it is not enough. To be truly effective, it must be combined with the draft of the policy which aims to reduce the speed physically. Yet we are told that this solution would probably take several years because ... MET, owner of the street.
Would we go again in the unhappy chorus of the famous "it's him not me"?
We find it hard to believe and we are confident that the proposals of the police and the town will soon be installed.
In two weeks it will be 4 months since the petition was filed.
